Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is plasma rich in growth factors and platelet concentrate. Growth factors are key players in wound healing and regenerative processes. PRP can accelerate vascularization, trigger cell proliferation, and stimulate tissue regeneration.
Photos will be taken prior to your procedure for your medical record. Based on your preference, you will have the option to use a topical numbing cream or apply ice prior to the injections. Your blood will be drawn and spun in a centrifuge. Once the PRP has been separated from your blood, it will be injected into the areas of concern. There will be multiple injections spaced about 1-3cm apart.
If you notice thinning hair, it is best to contact your primary care physician to evaluate if there is an underlying cause. PRP hair restoration is best for patients who have hair loss but still have hair growth. It will not benefit areas where there is no hair growth at all.
