Laser Hair Removal

What is Laser Hair Removal and am I a good candidate?

Laser Hair Removal is a procedure that uses heat energy from a laser to target pigment in hair and remove it from the face and body. Any person with light skin and dark hair is a prime candidate for Laser Hair Removal; however, it is also effective in reducing lighter hair as long as the hair has some pigment in it. Our laser is safe for all skin types with proven and effective results. The provider will typically perform a patch test to see how the individual responds to the laser so as to ensure optimal results in long term reduction of the hair.

What are the benefits of Laser Hair Removal and how does it work?

The benefits of Laser Hair Removal are that larger areas can be treated in a short amount of time, it is less painful than waxing and electrolysis and the results are long lasting. It works by targeting the pigment in the hair and heating the hair follicle to a temperature that disables that hair from growing. Once each hair is treated and falls out (typically within 2 weeks after the treatment), a new cycle of hair growth begins. You will need to continue coming back for treatments until all hair growth cycles have been treated with the laser.

How many treatments will I need?

Number of treatments needed depends on the area of your body you wish to have treated, the density of your hair and your hair growth cycles. Many factors affect the hair growth cycle such as diet, ethnicity, age, medication, hormones, weight and metabolism. Typically great results are achieved in six to ten treatments. Some patients require touch ups once or twice per year after the initial series is complete.

What type of results will I see?

After each treatment you will notice that the hair grows back very slowly and there is less hair. Usually the hair grows back finer until it finally goes away all together. Results are much smoother, hair free skin without stubble or razor bumps.

Is there any downtime associated with this procedure?

No, you may resume your normal activities following a Laser Hair Removal session. Products may be recommended for soothing the skin and sunscreen is always recommended following laser procedures.
